Sally O'Rourke is a graduate of the Royal Ballet School teacher's course, and is fully qualified in teaching classical and modern dance. She is a fully registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.

    After graduating from RBS in 1986 Sally danced professionally in Europe before working as a freelance teacher in London.

    The Sally Johnson Academy of Dance was established in Hedge End in 1992, and there are now additional branches in Chilworth and Chandlers Ford to cope with ever increasing numbers of pupils. ISTD and RAD Qualified teachers assist Sally in running a very successful school; many students go on to follow courses in the performing arts at local colleges and past students wishing to pursue a career in dance have gone on to study at Performers, Italia Conte and London Studio. Recently students have been accepted at Doreen Bird, Laines and The Millenium Centre.

 Every child is carefully taught and all have the opportunity to study for examinations, achieving excellent results in all genres.  

   Our school show is held biennially at the Nuffield Theatre in Southampton and provides fun and excitement for all our students. Everyone has the chance to be a star and our shows are very popular and always sold out.

   Many of our students perform in competitions entering groups and at the All England Dance Competition  some our children were worthy winners. Talented children also have the opportunity of auditioning for the National Youth Ballet and taking part in the Janet Cram & Star Tap awards.
